Robert T. Garnett

Robert T. (Bob) Garnett grew up on a dairy farm in Albemarle County and graduated from the University of Virginia in 1973. After working as a newspaper reporter and editor for eight years, he graduated from the Capital University School of Law in 1985. He has been in practice for twenty-one years. He was in private practice in Charlottesville for several years and served as an Assistant Commonwealth's Attorney for Albemarle County. Before joining Poindexter, Schorsch, Jones & Hill, he was an assistant public defender in the Staunton Public Defender's Office for fifteen years, exclusively handling criminal defense work. Garnett was also the defense trial attorney for a murder case in Waynesboro where the conviction has been reversed on appeal. (Read the Court's opinion.) He serves on the Drug Court Advisory Committee for the Staunton Circuit Court. He has been a Sunday school teacher, youth advisor, deacon, and elder in the Presbyterian church. Several years ago, he helped form the Central Virginia Woodturners.
